StatsBomb, a rapidly growing sports data business, was transitioning from ‘disruptive start-up’ to ‘global player’, and their marketplace was evolving.

They approached Onthree to help elevate their brand in accordance with this new landscape.

Our brief covered the full gamut for a brand refresh. Starting with strategy and identity, we built the brand out into a website, supporting marketing collateral, and brand guidelines.

StatsBomb: we are data champions

We started our brand strategy exercise with a full brand appraisal, competitor research and detailed discussions on competitive brand positioning and value proposition. The brand positioning and strapline was agreed as StatsBomb - Data Champions. This was rooted in various brand truths and pillars, including an unwavering belief in the impact data can have on sports decision-making.

StatsBomb then needed to have a brand identity that could match their international stature, ambition and vision.

The icon we created was derived from their distinct 'radar profiles' for sportspeople, and used to develop a full visual system to go across products, events, and digital branding.

From 2021, we were retained as brand guardians and helped mentor the incumbent design, and marketing teams to implement the new brand across all channels. Through this period, we ran various strategic, business and brand development workshops at their headquarters.

StatsBomb event

In 2024 StatsBomb ultimately realised their business ambition, when Hudl acquired StatsBomb to strengthen its suite of professional sports solutions.
